Hello challengers,
It's been a very long time since I was away from DYM. Studies pushed me out of the website developer activity. And for those who know DYM from its beginnings, I hope they have enjoyed playing here. Unfortunately, this website will never be upgraded from my side, but well... challenges are still accepted and I'm still here to give tips via PMs .
THIS IS NOT THE END OF DYM AND THIS NEVER WILL! THIS NEWS IS ABOUT THIREUS' GENERAL AND PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT CHALLENGES!
My very first plan with this website was to create a place where people can discover hacking and start digging to reach this underground world by their own. Today there are many challenge websites on the Internet. The famous website www.wechall.net is the right place to discover most of them, and be ranked on a global and international scale.
From a personal point of view about challenges... I'm now 23 and after some years of security and computer engineering training, I can tell you that becoming a real good hacker/pentester is a long way to go.
Challenges do not teach you how to hack, they teach you how to think and solve problems by your own with your brain. While being educative, they are fun and develop an addictive sentiment. This is what you can call a passion and involve you more and more into the underground and computer security world.
Unfortunately, many challenges are far from reality and tasks you'll have to do in your future IT security job. In the meantime, challenges are roots of a solid required culture and knowledge you must have. And this is very important to understand... do never think you are wasting your time doing challenges!
Finally, for those who start here for the first time I'd say, keep doing challenges, have fun, be curious, be involved into security events and always do your best to exceed your limits. DareYourMind should teach you the basis of the hacker knowledge. Never miss the point that what is important is not your rank, but the knowledge you'll get here and elsewhere.
Some online tools I like to use for challenges:

This is not a goodbye my friends, I'm still active in the challenge community
